I designed and made the first one in February 2020 in collaboration with my talented colleague Kerstin Östberg – a master at hand engraving. The inside of the ring has, besides my registered quality stamps, the hand engraved text “Den Sovende Dronning 1575 moh”. Translated : “The Sleeping Queen” as it’s called by locals around the region of Narvik.

Første gang æ så ringen “Den Sovende Dronning”, ble æ helt bergtatt. Uten tvil den tøffeste og vakreste ringen æ noen gang har sett. Og æ tenkte; den ønske æ mæ sååå⭐Litt rart sida æ absolutt ikke e nå “smykke~dame”, men det va nå med den ringen… Heldige mæ fikk den i gave av mamma & pappa. For mæ symboliserer ringen min & mamma sin første tur på “Dronninga” i lag, og den kjærligheta æ har til fjellan hær Nord. Nå med det kjæreste og fineste æ har. Og ringen bæres med stolthet og glæde.

Hi Catrine, My name is Jacob van Duijn and I live in The Netherlands. Every year we visit beautiful Norway. We have our own small cabin with a great view towards Dronning in Hakvikdalen. My grandmother was from Skjomen (Narvik). Today I read the \’\’Fremover\’\’ and saw the special ring in an advert from of the local jewelry sellers called \’\’dronning\’\’ and thought immidiatly \’\’Den sovende dronning\’\’ and so I visited your website. I really want that ring for my wife. We climbed the mountain a few years ago and it remembers her and me to our fantastic place in Norway. I can speak Norsk, but writing is difficult for me. This summer we will visit Norway again (if Corona let us visit Norway). I hope we can arrange something that makes it possible to sent it to us in Holland. Kind regards, Jacob van Duijn
